Drain The Swamp
Let's share proposals on how to combat corruption in Kenya.
Corruption: The Deep-Rooted Problem Pulling Us Back
Corruption is a disease deeply rooted in our country, a malignancy that has been pulling us back for years. As long as corruption exists, we as a nation will never move forward. We live in a country where every time you open your Twitter account, a new scandal has emerged, with money being lost on a daily basis.
E-Citizen: 15 Billion Stolen
One glaring example is the disappearance of 15 billion Kenyan shillings by e-Citizen. To this date, we have never received an explanation. Our hard-earned money, taxes that we toiled and sweated to pay, are now in the pockets of a few individuals. Imagine what 15 billion could have done for the people of this country!
NHIF: 9 Billion Swindled
Never forget the 9 billion Kenyan shillings swindled from NHIF last year by Nakhumicha. In Migori County, a woman had to deliver her baby right outside a hospital gate because the hospital lacked basic equipment. That money is gone, never to be seen again. Think about what this amount could have done for hospitals across our nation!
Mwangaza’s 900 Million Travel Expenses
Kawiraa Mwangaza, notorious for her incompetence, spent 900 million just traveling around the world. Enjoying life, living it to the fullest, all on money meant for the people of Meru County. This amount could have empowered many youths and citizens in Meru County. If it had been invested in financing businesses or boosting agriculture by building preprocessing plants to avoid post-harvest losses and improve value addition measures, Meru County residents could be much better off today.
The Silence
The man who purports to be our president has been very quiet about this. He lives as if he doesn’t notice what’s happening to our resources. His friends are the biggest looters, living like royalty on our taxes. This is why we insist that he must resign.
The EACC is clearly dysfunctional. It’s the epicenter of all corruption. Notably, no one on the president’s side has ever been charged or arrested for corruption. It’s only politicians in the opposition who, on very few occasions, have been presented before a court of law. Is it to say that once you work with the president, you can't be corrupt? Even those arraigned, despite an abundance of evidence, are always set free.
The Way Forward
Several measures are being discussed by Kenyan youths on how to fight and eradicate corruption from our country. We are now accepting proposals on how to combat corruption. Meanwhile, access this link to learn more about the war on corruption.
